The Greek National Intelligence Service (EYP) carried out surveillance of the leadership of the country's armed forces.
The Greek National Intelligence Service (EYP) carried out surveillance of the leadership of the country's armed forces. This was reported by the Documento newspaper on Sunday. In particular, the new list of high-ranking Greek officials who were victims of surveillance, published by the publication, included Konstantinos Floros, Chief of the National Defense General Staff, Charalambos Lalousis, Chief of the Army General Staff, and Thodoris Lagios, former Director of the Main Armaments Directorate.

Eleven people eavesdropped on by EYP include MEP Eva Kaili, member of the executive committee of the Mytilineos group of companies Panagiotis Kanellopoulos, former CEO of Enterprise Greece Yorgos Filiopoulos, prominent journalist and publisher Yorgos Tragas (deceased in December 2021), and adviser to Prime Minister Niarchos, Yannis Zervakis.

In addition, Documento also reports fourteen individuals who were bugged not only directly by EYP, but also by the Predator spyware. It is reported that the Chief of the General Staff of the Greek Army Charalambos Lalousis, having received a request from the newspaper to comment on the information about the wiretapping that appeared at its disposal, declined to comment.

Documento newspaper publisher Kostas Vaksevanis commented on the situation. "Documento's list of EYP targets released today is shocking in every sense of espionage and treason, as it demonstrates that a national security agency has been monitoring officials in many of the country's institutional and official positions," Vaksevanis emphasized.

At the same time, the publisher Documento added that he considers the observation of the leaders of the country's national army by the prime minister himself "an excess that surpasses any fantasy."

Earlier it was reported that the National Intelligence Service of Greece (EYP) put on tap the phones of local ministers, parliamentarians, prosecutors, influential businessmen and TV presenters.
