Apple recently announced an exciting enhancement to Siri, integrating it with OpenAI’s ChatGPT. This upgrade, introduced in iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, allows users to access ChatGPT directly through Siri, significantly improving Siri’s ability to understand and respond to complex queries. By leveraging the language capabilities of OpenAI’s GPT-4 model, Siri can now answer nuanced questions and even assist with tasks like document analysis and image generation without needing separate apps.

One of the standout features is called “Visual Intelligence,” which allows Siri to recognize objects in images and provide contextual information, similar to Google Lens. For example, users can take a photo of a plant, and Siri—with ChatGPT’s support—can identify the species and offer care tips.

Apple also emphasizes privacy, requiring user confirmation before any data is sent to OpenAI, and allows users to disable prompts for efficiency. This integration aligns with Apple's privacy policies, ensuring data is only processed temporarily and without long-term storage, while also allowing ChatGPT Pro subscribers to access enhanced features.

This Siri-ChatGPT collaboration is part of a broader AI push from Apple, often referred to as “Apple Intelligence,” emphasizing an AI-driven experience with robust privacy measures. This update is currently available in beta, with a full release expected soon for all compatible Apple devices.
