Google adds new AI Mode directly into Search. |
Unlike the existing AI Overviews, AI Mode leverages Google's internal language models to provide direct, conversational answers using its expansive online index. The goal is to let users explore topics through dialogue, rather than sifting through individual links.
Enhancements to AI Mode include the ability to save chat history for future reference, giving users a way to return to previously asked questions or ongoing research threads. Google also introduces visual cards—graphical summaries of places, products, and events—designed to improve decision-making within search results.
This update is part of Google’s broader push to evolve its core product into a hybrid of search and AI chat, keeping pace with competitors like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google Gemini.
While still in its early stages, AI Mode could reshape how billions of users interact with Google Search. A wider rollout is expected once Google completes internal testing and gathers initial user feedback.
