Users can experiment with short clips in seconds, with the first 10 seconds of video editing currently free. Meta plans to expand capabilities later this year to allow fully custom AI-driven text prompts for video editing.
The Edits App
Launched in April 2025, the Edits app is designed to compete with popular short-form video platforms like CapCut. It provides AI-assisted animation, green screen functionality, automatic scene adjustments, and real-time analytics for Instagram creators. The app supports 32+ languages, and allows easy import/export to Instagram projects, lowering the barrier for professional-quality content creation.
In addition to the editor, Meta launched Vibes, an AI-generated video feed inside the Meta AI app. Vibes allows users to discover, create, remix, and share short-form AI-generated content, effectively creating a playground for experimentation, viral content, and creative expression. Vibes is designed to spark ideas for creators and encourage collaboration across genres and regions.
Meta’s AI editor represents a significant shift in how video content can be produced. Creators no longer need high-end software, expensive cameras, or advanced editing skills to produce professional-looking videos. This democratization of AI-powered tools enables individual creators, educators, and small businesses to compete on a level playing field with large studios.
